The way library patrons and staff use the Youth Services space has changed considerably since the library opened to the public in 2003. After over two years of planning, this past summer the Library Board of Trustees approved a $400,000 renovation project for the Youth Services Department. The renovation project includes: an expanded Youth Services Program Room, a new public service desk, a children’s play corner, expanded technology space, reconfiguration of collections, and a new off-desk work space for staff in the screened porch area. Construction will start in mid-August and finish by the end of December. Due to the construction there may be times when portions or all of the Youth Department will be inaccessible to the public. For additional timeline and details regarding the project check back for updates or stop by the Library.
The Youth Services Department will be closed for carpet installation on Wednesday, October 29, 2014. Patrons will not be able to enter the department. A selection of items will be available to browse and check out, and library staff can pull specific items upon request. Library users are encouraged to place holds using our online catalog. The rest of the Library will remain open and programs will continue as scheduled. The Youth Services Department will reopen to the public on Thursday, October 30. Thank you for your patience during our renovation!
