The library recognizes that a permanent or temporary disability may prevent patrons from coming to the library. That is why we have initiated our Homebound Service to get materials to you through the mail at no cost to you.
Librarians are available to help participants select items that may be of interest and entertainment. Or, if you know what you would like to read, you can simply request particular items. As long as the library owns the titles, and they are currently on the shelf, we can send them to you.
A maximum of 2 items can be sent at any one time. You may request books, magazines, music CDs, audiobooks and DVDs. Materials labeled as “NEW” cannot be loaned to you thru this service.
The check-out period is 4 weeks. A receipt with due dates will be included with your selection, please make sure to return items on time. If you need more time, you can contact the library about having your items renewed.
The materials are placed in a heavy nylon zipper bag and sent out via the U. S. Postal Service, at no cost to you. To return the items simply reverse the mailing label which has the Library address and paid postage. The bag may then be put in the mailbox or given to the postman. If mail delivery service is not possible, library staff may be able to drop off or pick up materials, depending on staff availability.
Please return all the items that were sent to you at the same time- this ensures that proper postage is paid for the package and so that you are not responsible for paying the postage to return an item to us.
Items must be returned to the library before additional items are sent to you.
Materials not available at Messenger Public Library cannot be checked out and sent to you through our program.
